A section of the M1 motorway near Huddersfield was closed for 10 hours due to a "serious incident".

Earlier, National Highways shut the motorway northbound between junctions 38 and 39 near Wakefield.

The crash happened shortly after 05:00 BST when a single vehicle left the carriageway, National Highways said.

All three lanes have since reopened. Officials have thanked motorists for their patience.

West Yorkshire Police, Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedics and National Highways traffic officers were sent to the scene.
