A mother is due to stand trial charged with killing her five-month-old baby, who was found fatally injured in a Leeds park.

Hayley Macfarlane, 39, appeared at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday, charged with murdering daughter Evelyn.

Police found the seriously injured youngster at Woodhouse Moor on 20 December. She died later in hospital.

Ms Macfarlane, who did not enter a plea, was remanded in custody. A trial was provisionally listed for May 2024.

The judge, Recorder of Leeds Guy Kearl, told Ms Macfarlane, of Carrington Street in Barnsley, she was due in court again on 25 January for a pre-trial hearing.
