Elland waste tip to close for up to two weeks
- Published
Elland Household Waste Recycling Centre is to be closed for up to two weeks.
The closure will allow essential drainage works to take place at the nearby Ainleys Depot, the base for Calderdale Council's highways and street scene teams.
The work has been scheduled to start on 4 March and be completed by 16 March.
Residents who would need to use the tip in that time have been asked to use the waste centres in Brighouse, Halifax or Sowerby Bridge.
The Ainleys depot was undergoing modernisation for health and safety reasons, which also required new and improved drainage, the council said.
Contractors would need to dig across the waste centre site to carry out the work, which would see large holes, uneven surfaces and machinery throughout the site.
The council said the decision to close the centre for the duration of the work was to "keep the public and staff safe".
Councillor Silvia Dacre said: "We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
"We're doing everything we can... to reopen as soon as possible and in plenty of time ahead of the busy Easter period."
