Leicester fans urged to use park and ride

Football and rugby fans are being urged to use a Leicester park and ride service to get to this weekend's games.

Both Leicester City FC and Leicester Tigers RFC will be holding home matches on Saturday, with a total of about 48,000 people expected to attend.

Motorists in the city are being warned to expect serious congestion and parking spaces could be hard to find.

The county council, which runs Enderby park and ride, said the service will help fans arrive on time.

Lesley Pendleton, cabinet member for environment and transport, said: "The service is particularly useful for sports fans and can also help to ease some of the match day congestion."

Leicester City's game with Ipswich Town is due to kick off at 1245 BST and should finish at about 1445 BST.

The Leicester Tigers versus London Irish match is due to kick off at 1500 BST and is expected to finish at about 1700 BST.
