Thousands of people have attended one of the UK's biggest Caribbean carnivals in Leicester.

The two-hour long parade set off from Victoria Park and travelled around the city centre before arriving back at the park.

Scores of floats and hundreds of performers took part in the procession, under the theme "Melting Pot".

Organisers said it was about looking at the rich legacy which exists in multi-cultural Britain today.

The community carnival has been held for 27 years, but was cancelled last year due to a lack of money.
