The 28th annual Caribbean carnival has been taking place in Leicester.

It is one of the largest multicultural events in the East Midlands with an estimated 20,000 people attending.

The city council said the event was a celebration of Caribbean cultural identity.

Scores of floats and hundreds of performers have been taking part, under the theme "'Colour My World".

Organisers said the event celebrated the rich legacy which exists in multi-cultural Britain today.

Many colourful costumes were on show at the event.
