Police have implemented a dispersal order following anti-social behaviour from youths

A dispersal order has been brought in for a town centre by police after several reports of anti-social behaviour.

Leicestershire Police said it was introduced due to youths causing trouble in Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire.

The order came into force at 14:30 BST on Wednesday and will end at 20:00 on Thursday.

Officers said they removed seven people under the powers by 19:00 on Wednesday.

The order allows officers the power to require people to leave the area to "reduce the risk of causing harassment, alarm or distress to the local community" and to also reduce the risk of any further public disorder.

The order covers Scalford Road, Sherrard Street, Thorpe End, Market Place and Nottingham Street.

Police said they were carrying out patrols in the area and urged residents to report concerns to them.
