Detectives working on a murder investigation are appealing for help in finding a mobile phone.

Timothy Macdonald, 46, was found dead from a gunshot wound in a field off Highgate Lane, Plungar, Leicestershire on 7 November.

Officers believe a Samsung mobile phone that could assist the investigation may have been picked up in the Vale of Belvoir area.

Leicestershire Police has urged anyone with information to come forward.

Earlier this week, the force said a post-mortem examination had determined Mr Macdonald died from a gunshot wound injury, though further tests are due to be carried out.

A 56-year-old man from Grantham in Lincolnshire was arrested on suspicion of Mr Macdonald's murder before being released under investigation.

The case has been linked to the death of a 46-year-old man found in a vehicle on the A52 in Nottinghamshire on 9 November.

Det Insp David Greenhalgh, from Leicestershire Police, said: "We continue to carry out full inquiries into Mr Macdonald's death and I believe locating this phone will significantly help us in our ongoing investigation."
