Leicester: Seventh arrest after double shooting

A seventh person has been arrested following a double shooting in Leicester.

Police said two men were shot as they walked near the junction of Evington Road and Chepstow Road at about 23:20 GMT on 22 November.

Both were taken to hospital and have since been discharged.

A 21-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and has since been released on bail.

Four other men have previously been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the shooting.

A further two men were held on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

The men have all been released on bail while inquiries continue.

On Monday, a specialist diving team began searching a section of the River Soar as part of the investigation.

Police said the search remained ongoing in the water near Charles Bennion Walk, with the towpath alongside it currently closed.
