Leicester: Long delays after M1 closed for police incident
- Published
Drivers experienced long delays after a section of the M1 was shut due to a police incident.
The motorway was closed between junctions 21A and 22 at Leicester, with queueing traffic being turned around by officers on Wednesday morning.
Officers first closed the northbound carriageway shortly before 04:00 GMT.
The road was subsequently reopened but motorists were warned to expect considerable delays due to traffic build-up.
Police said the road was closed while they carried out a welfare check on a person.
