Lutterworth: Army detonates bomb found by metal detectorists

A bomb uncovered by a group of people metal detecting in a field has been safely detonated.
Police were called just before 10:45 GMT on Sunday after an item, reported to be a suspected shell, was found by the group near Swinford Road in Lutterworth, Leicestershire.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed that the 1kg German incendiary was "destroyed by explosive demolition".
The exact type of bomb found was not specified by the MoD or police.
Leicestershire Police said a cordon and road closure were put in place, with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team notified.
A spokesperson from the MoD added: "We can confirm that on 4 February, Nottingham Troop, 721 EOD Sqn, 11 EOD&S Regt RLC, responded to a request from Leicestershire Police to investigate a suspect item.
"The EOD team assessed the item and determined it to be a 1kg German incendiary which was destroyed by explosive demolition."
