Watch the moment osprey chick flipped out of nest by fish at Rutland Water

The moment a trapped osprey chick was saved by rescuers after it was knocked out of its nest by a fish has been caught on webcam.

The chick’s father brought the fish to the nest but it was still alive and flipped the chick out, leaving it trapped on the edge of the nest and unable to free itself.

The team at Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust, which was observing the nest at Rutland Water, decided to intervene.

They jumped into a boat and safely moved the chick back to the centre of the nest.

The trust said the chick hatched "amid the spectacular aurora displays over the skies" at the weekend.
