'It's like a scene from a film' - Paris tourists surprised at Louvre jewel theft
France's Justice Minister has admitted to security flaws in protecting the Louvre Museum in Paris after robbers stole imperial jewels in broad daylight on Sunday.
Gerald Darmanin said it gave France a terrible image, as the thieves were able to park a truck mounted with a furniture lift in the middle of the city, get people up it in several minutes and grab priceless jewels.
The French government says eight invaluable items were stolen including a diamond-and-emerald necklace. The Louvre remains closed to the public despite being scheduled to reopen on Monday.
