The Egyptian Paralympic team has confirmed it will train in Lincolnshire ahead of the 2012 Games.

The 50 athletes will stay in Lincoln and use Boston's Princess Royal Sports Arena and the University of Lincoln.

The Meridian Centre in Louth and Lincoln's Yarborough Leisure Centre will also be used during the team's week-long stay from 21 August 2012.

They are taking part in athletics, table tennis, weight lifting and volleyball events.

Councillor Doreen Stephenson, Lincolnshire's spokeswoman for the 2012 Games, said: "Having an Egyptian team using facilities in Lincolnshire next year is not only about the 2012 Games but also the legacy of the Games.

"We are working hard to develop a sustainable relationship with the Egyptian Paralympic Team and we hope that this benefits the local economy as much as possible."
