Lincoln's Steampunk festival attracts hundreds of people

The annual Steampunk festival hit Lincoln at the weekend attracting hundreds of people from around the world wearing pseudo-Victorian garb

The festival, in its fifth year, takes over the castle grounds and surrounding historic buildings for three days and is the largest of its kind in Europe

Tiffany Milner travelled from West Yorkshire to the festival and described steampunk as wearing Victorian clothing and inventions "that could never have existed"

Many modern objects are given a steampunk twist by adding clockwork or steam power - and fans could pick up goodies from a range of stalls

The popular fad has been described as a "nostalgia for what never was" and draws on a wide variety of influences from HG Wells to comics

One of the main themes of the festival is "be polite" but any disputes are settled with Tea Duelling - who can keep a dunked biscuit in the tea the longest.
