Vidmantas Svedarauskas beat Manfred Jaedke to death

A man has been given a life sentence for murdering his disabled neighbour in Lincolnshire.

Vidmantas Svedarauskas , 67, was convicted on Wednesday of killing wheelchair user Manfred Jaedke, 61, in July 2016.

The victim, who had had his leg amputated, had 65 injuries on his body, Lincoln Crown Court heard.

Svedarauskas, of Porcher Way, Boston, must serve a minimum of 15 years before he can be considered for release.

'Sustained assault'

The court previously heard how the two men had been seen drinking together the evening before Mr Jaedke's body was found inside his bungalow.

Mr Jaedke was "savagely beaten" and was found with 65 injuries on his body.

Lithuanian national Svedarauskas, who did not give evidence during the trial, had a limited recollection of what happened, the court heard.

Det Ch Insp Diane Coulson said while it may never be known what triggered the attack it was clear from the extent of Mr Jaedke's injuries, and the amount of blood at the scene, he had suffered a serious assault.

"He was an amputee who was getting around in a wheel chair, and had recently suffered a stroke," she said.

"There were no weapons involved - his injuries consisted of mainly bruising and a couple of lacerations, which caused him to bleed significantly," she added.
