    BBC Lincolnshire

    That's all from me today.

I hope we've managed to keep you up-to-date with all the very latest from across the county both today and through the earlier week.

We'll be back Monday from 08:00 but until then I'll leave you with five things we've learned today:

    • Lincolnshire Police have been testing their new drone
    • A one-of-a-kind gold Creme Egg is going under the hammer in Stamford

  3. MP surprised by lack of enthusiasm for flood protection schemepublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 23 June 2017

    Hope Bolger
    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

The MP for Horncastle says she doesn't understand why more people haven't taken up free flood protection for their homes in the town.

As we told you earlier the Environment Agency says people living in the flood plain of the River Waring have been offered flood doors and air bricks - but only a third have accepted the offer.

Victoria Atkins MP says it's a bit puzzling:

    Quote Message

It is unusual for people not to take up something that's free, so I am surprised by that. I'll be very interested to hear the reasons why people decided not to accept the offer."

Victoria Atkins, MP for Louth and Horncastle

  4. Police's new eye-in-the-sky put through its pacespublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 23 June 2017

    Alex Rhodes
    BBC Lincolnshire

Some time ago Lincolnshire Police announced they'd purchased a drone to help them with operations like searching for missing people.

Whilst the LincsCOPter (see what they did there?) isn't yet ready to be deployed in the field, officers are busy practicing to make sure they're comfortable behind the controls.

They're taking it for a spin at RAF Metheringham Aviation Heritage Centre today:

  5. Commendations for hero copspublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 23 June 2017

    BBC Radio Lincolnshire

Two officers who saved a man's life and helped jail his attacker after he was the victim of a "savage knife attack", have been commended for their efforts.

PCs Mairi Aitken-Jones (pictured below) and Jacqui Wadey came across the seriously injured man who'd been stabbed in his face, neck, back and thighs on Croft Street back on 24 March.

PC Aitken-Jones immediately gave emergency first aid to the man even though the attacker could still have been nearby. PC Wadey secured the scene and gathered evidence that would ultimately send the offender to prison for six years for GBH.

The victim was taken to hospital and although seriously injured is recovering well.

    Quote Message

I am extremely proud of both officers who thoroughly deserve this recognition. This was an extremely difficult scene to manage with a seriously injured victim and numerous frantic witnesses.

    Sandra England, Divisional Commander

  7. Rare Cadbury's gold 'conundrum' egg up for auction in Stamfordpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 23 June 2017

    Alex Rhodes
    BBC Lincolnshire

Is there a special chocolate connoisseur in your life? Are you looking to have the ultimate Easter next year?

Have you got between £10,000 and £15,000 burning a hole in your pocket?

If the answer to those questions is yes then you'll want to get yourself down to Bateman's Auctioneers in Stamford next month.

They've got a rare Cadbury's Creme Egg going up for sale on 1 July but this isn't your average chocolate treat, for one it comes in a box like this...

    Open it up and inside...

    EggImage source, Batemans

326.6 grams of finely engraved 22ct gold!

    EggImage source, Batemans

If you're wondering why on earth this exists it's because back in 1983 the chocolate company ran a promotion for 12 gold 'conundrum' eggs hidden across the country.

However what the public didn't know is that a 13th egg was made, bigger than all the others with a design encompassing the twelve riddles that hid the locations of the originals. This is that very egg and it's the first time it has ever been seen in public!

It's probably not suitable for an egg and spoon race though.

    Rod Whiting

The centre opened in 2009 but managers say patients could get help elsewhere. They also say as it's not being used by people across the county, it's creating inequality.

Instead they want to extend GP surgery opening times and improve the 111 service but thousands of people have signed a petition urging the NHS to keep it open.
