An opened cash register was later found inside Lincoln Cathedral, staff say
A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a break-in at Lincoln Cathedral, police have said.
Several cash registers were stolen from the cafe and a window and door were damaged, Lincolnshire Police said.
The theft was discovered at about 06:00 GMT on Wednesday when workers arrived to find the tills missing. One was later found opened on the floor.
Cathedral staff said they were "saddened" by the break-in which forced them to temporarily close the cafe.
The cafe remained closed while the damage caused during the break-in was assessed, but the rest of the cathedral was open, staff said.
