Significant flooding hit Horncastle following Storm Babet

A new fund to support victims of recent flooding in parts of Lincolnshire has been created.

About 150 homes were flooded across the county in October due to Storm Babet.

Lincolnshire Community Foundation said the new fund would offer grants of up to £200 to help individuals and families in the East Lindsey district.

Money for the fund was donated by East Lindsey District Council, the Horncastle Lions and the Horncastle & District Health and Wellbeing Fund.

Craig Leyland, leader of East Lindsey District Council, said: "This new fund is to aid individuals and families severely impacted by flooding.

"Small grants of up to £200 will be available to help replace essential lost items."

The cash could also be used for cleaning, emergency repairs, heating and alternative accommodation costs, the council said.

The fund would offer support to those whose homes had flooded or who had suffered hardship due to flooding in the East Lindsey area.

The authority said priority would be given to affected households with occupants over 70, those with young children, or those where people with physical, learning or mental health conditions lived.

People can apply for help via the Lincolnshire Community Foundation's website, external before 30 November, it added.
