James Froggatt resigned before a misconduct hearing into his behaviour was held, police say

A Lincolnshire Police officer who admitted assaulting a man has been found by the force to have committed gross misconduct.

PC James Froggatt had been convicted of common assault after pleading guilty in September at Nottingham Magistrates.

A misconduct hearing at Grantham Police Station on Friday found he had breached standards of professional behaviour.

If he had not resigned before the hearing, he would have been dismissed without notice, its chair said.

Froggatt, who had been based at Lincoln Police Station, broke the force's behaviour standards of authority, respect and courtesy when he had pleaded guilty on 25 September to the assault, the misconduct hearing found.

He had also shown "discreditable conduct", it ruled.
