The slipway at Cleethorpes was damaged in recent storms, the council says

Repairs are taking place at a Lincolnshire seafront battered by winter storms, officials have said.

The slipway on North Promenade in Cleethorpes bore the brunt, putting it out of action.

North East Lincolnshire Council said "specialised mortar" needed to carry out the repairs had now arrived.

The work was expected to be completed by 2 February, but officials said this was subject to tidal conditions.

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport, said last week's Storm Isha "took its toll".

He added: "With weather patterns becoming increasingly unpredictable coastal areas around the country will, I am sure, be seeing more of this in the future."
