A Lincolnshire market town will host an illuminations event in March.

The event, called Illuminate Gainsborough, will feature a lantern parade, projections, and a "spectacular" fire garden, organisers said.

Willow lanterns were crafted by schoolchildren.

Dr Anna Scott, West Lindsey District Council's events lead, said: "This year's event is about Gainsborough as a community."

Gainsborough Old Hall is among the locations where the festival will take place

The event will take place at various town centre locations, including Gainsborough Old Hall, on 9 March.

Louise Fountain, from English Heritage, which manages the site, said: "I am delighted to be able to open the grounds up for the event and to use the hall as a stunning backdrop for the performers and lanterns."
