A1 Lincolnshire death: Man may have been hit by a vehicle

Police want to hear from drivers who were on the A1 on Tuesday evening

Police believe a man who died on the A1 in Lincolnshire was hit by a vehicle.

Officers found the 36-year-old's body on the northbound side of the A1 at North Witham on Tuesday at about 18:45 GMT, a spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said.

They said the force received a call ten minutes before the incident from a man on the hard shoulder.

They added that the man's family was being supported by specially trained officers.

In a statement Lincolnshire Police said: "At this stage we are unsure of the full circumstances that have led to this tragic death.

"As part of our inquiries we are investigating a call received just after 18:35 from a man on the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway who was with a white Volkswagen Golf.

"Inquiries are ongoing and we would like to hear from anyone who travelled on the A1 between 18:30 and 19:00 at North Witham towards Colsterworth, or who may have captured dashcam footage."

A spokesperson for National Highways said the northbound A1 between Stamford and Colsterworth was shut overnight while the investigation took place.
