A cyclist has been killed in a crash involving a lorry in north London.

The man, in his late 60s, was hit at about 09:40 BST while cycling on the A1 Archway Road between Highgate and Archway gyratory.

London Ambulance said despite extensive efforts, he died at the scene.

He is the sixth cyclist to be killed on London's roads this year and his death comes after Ride London, a two-day cycling event which aimed to encourage more people to cycle in London.

Next of kin have been informed.

The Met said the driver of the lorry stopped at the scene. There have been no arrests.

Traffic officers from Northolt Road Death Investigation Unit have appealed for witnesses.
