Rapper in Tulisa drugs trial admits supplying cocaine

A friend of the former X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos has admitted supplying cocaine to an undercover reporter.

Michael Coombs, from Enfield, north London, pleaded guilty to the charge at Southwark Crown Court.

Ms Contostavlos, who shot to fame as a singer in the band N-Dubz, is due to stand trial having denied involvement in brokering the drug deal.

Rapper Coombs will be sentenced at the end of Ms Contostavlos' trial.

Coombs was accused of supplying the drug on 23 May 2013 to the Sun on Sunday undercover reporter Mazher Mahmood at London's Dorchester Hotel.

The rapper, who is also known as Mike GLC, has been bailed.

Judge Alistair McCreath said: "Michael Coombs, I'll sentence you at the conclusion of the proceedings against your co-defendant, whatever that conclusion may be.

"In the meantime I'll permit you to keep your bail, but you must understand that that consists of no sort of indication as to what sentence you'll get at the end of it."

Ms Contostavlos, from Friern Barnet, north London, denies being "concerned with the supply of 13.9 grams of cocaine" for £860, between 20 May and 24 May 2013.

A jury is due to be sworn in on Monday, and the prosecution is due to open the trial on Tuesday.
