'Clever little pigs' escape causing closure of A21
- Published
A breed of pig, described by an RSPCA inspector as "very clever" escaped from a farm and forced police to close part of the A21 in south London.
The animals got onto the carriageway forcing the closure of the stretch between Pratts Bottom village in the Borough of Bromley and the M25.
A Transport for London spokesman said catching them was "complicated".
The pigs were eventually returned to their field by 15:00 GMT and the road was reopened.
A spokeswoman for the RSPCA said the pigs were a small breed called KuneKune that were characterised by their intelligence.
She said up to 40 of the pigs had previously escaped on Wednesday possibly lured by rich foraging opportunities in the nearby woodlands.
