A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman whose body was found in east London in the early hours of Sunday.
Hina Bashir, 21, who had been reported missing from Ilford, east London, was found on Folkes Lane in Upminster.
Mohammed Arslan, 26, of Ilford, spoke only to confirm his name at Stratford Magistrates' Court.
Earlier, Det Ch Insp Dave Whellams said his "thoughts were with Hina's family who have suffered a terrible loss".
"We will provide them with whatever support we can," he added.
"We are continuing our work to develop a full understanding of what happened to Hina, not just in recent days but in the weeks prior to this terrible incident.
"I would urge anyone who may have information which could assist us to come forward."
Mr Arslan was remanded in custody and ordered to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.
