Tony Blackburn: Veteran DJ turns railway announcer for new London station

Veteran broadcaster Tony Blackburn has swapped the radio for the railway, taking on the role of station announcer for Thameslink.

Ahead of the opening of Brent Cross West station on Sunday, the BBC Radio London and Radio Two DJ has recorded announcements to be played across the Thameslink route.

His voice will be heard at stations between Bedfordshire and south London that will serve Brent Cross West, as well as welcoming passengers at the brand-new station itself.

Mr Blackburn said: "As a Barnet resident I’m delighted and honoured to be involved in the opening of our fabulous new station."
