Four men face significant jail sentences after mugging and killing a music manager in an attempt to steal his fake designer watch.

Jordell Menzies, 27, was convicted of murdering Emmanuel Odunlami, who had been celebrating his 32nd birthday at a restaurant in the City of London.

Three others were previously convicted of manslaughter and a fourth of perverting the course of justice.

The case can only now be reported following a retrial.

The court heard how a security guard at the event Mr Odunlami was attending, Kavindu Hettiarachichi, spotted the watch and tipped off his accomplices.

The watch, if genuine, would have been worth about £125,000.

Menzies stabbed Mr Odunlami near St Paul's Cathedral as he left the restaurant at about 23:00 GMT.

The court was told how the victim, known to friends as Jay, worked in the music industry managing a number of performing artists.

Louis Vandrose, 28, from Islington, and Quincy Ffrench, 28, of Tottenham, admitted robbery and were found guilty of manslaughter.

Hettiarachichi, 31, from Harrow, admitted theft and was convicted of robbery and manslaughter.

Antonios Kfoury, 22, from Ealing, was found guilty of perverting the course of justice.

A City of London Police spokesperson said: "If you carry a knife and murder a man who was running away, it is not a mugging gone wrong, it is murder and we will do our utmost to bring you to justice."
