A man climbed to the top of London's famous Eros statue in Piccadilly Circus, leading to emergency service crews cordoning off the area.

He scaled the landmark at about 18:00 GMT on Wednesday, Metropolitan Police said.

Two London Fire Brigade engines attended, with the individual climbing down at about 21:00.

A man was later arrested on suspicion of public nuisance and criminal damage, the force confirmed.
