Bruce Grove station restored to 1872 glory

Renovations at Tottenham's Bruce Grove Station have breathed life into its disused rooms and paid homage to its Victorian history.
Following structural repairs, the London Overground station now has a new community space and waiting room.
Haringey Council has worked in partnership with others to improve the station and its accessibility.
Work was completed in December 2023 and arrangements for using the community space will be finalised soon.
The station was originally on the Stoke Newington & Edmonton Railway and opened on 22 July 1872.
It is named after nearby Bruce Castle museum, a 16th Century manor house and local heritage resource.
Haringey Council has been working in partnership with Transport for London (TfL), Arriva Rail London, Network Rail, ArchCo and the Railway Heritage Trust to make the station more accessible and assess ways to activate the unused arches.
Surveys of the station highlighted that repair works were required, and in late summer 2023 Arriva Rail London carried out comprehensive repairs to the disused waiting rooms on the Southbound platform.
In total, four new spaces have been created for residents and businesses, including a new community space, waiting room, staff dining room, and maintenance storage facility.
The waiting room and community space pay homage to the station's history with Victorian-inspired features, including handcrafted reproduction benches.
The council said it was liaising closely with partners to seek further improvements beyond the station itself, including the forecourt and arches, and potential step-free access.
However, they cannot control all changes at the station due to its complex ownership structure.
Network Rail holds the freehold for the site, TfL has a lease for the station, and Arriva Rail London operates the station.
The arches below the station and the forecourt facing Tottenham High Road is leased by The ArchCo.
