Thousands enjoy Manchester's Caribbean carnival

The carnival is being held in Moss Side on Saturday and Sunday
Thousands of people are expected to celebrate at Manchester's Caribbean carnival over the weekend.
The carnival, which includes music, dance, theatre and costume, is being held in and around Alexandra Park in Moss Side on Saturday and Sunday.
A procession weaved its way through neighbouring streets on Saturday lunch time, with steel bands, floats, dance troupes and Carnival queen.
Sunday is a family day with various stage performances in the park.
Neville Edwards, one of the organisers, said: "It is important to identify people's heritage and show that to other cultures as well.
"We get more and more support every year."
Police have advised motorists to expect disruption in the area on Saturday and Sunday.
Ch Insp Wasim Chaudhry said: "The Caribbean Carnival is a fantastic example of the cultural diversity we are so proud to have in Manchester.
"There will be a police operation in place to ensure safety and I would ask motorists visiting the city to expect delays as a result of the event and to allow extra time for their journeys."
