Hundreds in Urmston incinerator protest
- Published
Hundreds of people have taken part in a protest about a proposed biomass incinerator in Greater Manchester.
Campaign group Breathe Clean Air Group said it was worried the Barton Renewable Energy Plant would pump pollutants into the air around Urmston.
However, applicant Peel Energy said the plant would be safe, burning wood which would go into landfill and would provide electricity for 40,000 homes.
Residents have until Wednesday to lodge their views with Trafford Council.
Several councillors had pledged to support the demonstration.
