Moors Murder mother Winnie Johnson in DVD appeal to Brady

The mother of Moors Murder victim Keith Bennett has revealed she has cancer and may have just months to discover where her son is buried.

Keith Bennett, 12, was snatched in 1964 in Longsight, Manchester, by Ian Brady and his accomplice Myra Hindley and murdered by the pair.

Brady, who admitted the killing, has never revealed where he buried the boy.

Keith's mother Winnie Johnson, 77, has appealed to Brady on a DVD to reveal where his remains are before she dies.

Mrs Johnson, who is receiving treatment for cancer of the womb, said this may be her "last chance" to find Keith's body and hold a funeral and formal burial before she dies.

'Any decency'

In 1987, after Brady and Hindley admitted killing Keith and 16-year-old Pauline Reade from Crumpsall, they were taken back to Saddleworth Moor by detectives to find the bodies but only Pauline's remains were found.

Police abandoned the hunt in 2009 and the investigation is now classed as "dormant", with only a major scientific breakthrough or significant piece of fresh evidence able to prompt a new search.

Appealing directly to the killer on the DVD Mrs Johnson said: "Brady, I'm wanting you to tell me where Keith is before anything happens to me.

"I've got cancer and if you've got any decency or respect for yourself and for me, you would tell me where Keith is because that is the last thing I want to happen before I die."

Mrs Johnson and her supporters have set up a website called Finding Keith, which is hoping to raise money to fund a further search in May.

Brady and Hindley also killed John Kilbride, 12, Lesley Ann Downey, 10, and Edward Evans, 17.

Hindley died in prison in November 2002, aged 60.
