Blackpool Council set to axe five senior posts

Five senior management positions, including director of tourism, are being cut by Blackpool Council.
The council's executive, external will be asked to approve the plan next Wednesday to save more than £1.8m over four years.
Among those going will be executive director of tourism and regeneration Helen France, who joined the council from Knowsley Council in 2008.
Council leader Simon Blackburn said that the money had to be saved to protect services.
Ms France's responsibilities will be covered by Alan Cavill who becomes assistant chief executive for regeneration, tourism and culture.
Also losing their jobs will be Fiona McGrath, assistant chief executive policy for transformation and communications; Andrew Pollock, director of resources; and Russ Weaver, assistant director of neighbourhood services.
