Sports consultancy hired over TT races global expansion

The Isle of Man government has hired the services of an independent consultancy to assess possible benefits of expanding the TT racing brand.

Geoff Corkish, MHK for Douglas West and a member of the Department of Economic Development, said a world series of TT races could raise extra revenue.

UK-based The Sports Consultancy has been hired to carry out research into whether it would be financially viable.

The firm has also worked on golf's Ryder Cup and Formula One racing.

Mr Corkish said: "I've no idea of the cost, but this is only a feasibility study.

"At the end of the study we will find out just what it will mean to us.

"If it turns out that it is not going to be a benefit to the Isle of Man then we will pull away from that, but we have to explore any avenue we can to increase our income streams."
