Adventure park plans for Tatton Park

The company was invited to Tatton Park by Cheshire East Council

Plans for a new outdoor themed adventure park on the Tatton Park estate have gone on display.

Leisure company Bure Valley Adventures Ltd has announced a public consultation for Bewilderwood.

It is an award-winning attraction currently operating in the heart of the Norfolk Broads.

The company expressed an interest in opening a second park in the UK to Cheshire East Council which hopes to boost visitor numbers at Tatton.

"Tatton Park is already the premier major attraction in the region with more than 800,000 visitors a year," councillor Jamie Macrae, Cheshire East Council Cabinet member with responsibility for prosperity, said.

"Our vision is to realise its full potential at national level and raise the visitor to over 1,000,000 visitors a year."

Tatton Park is owned by The National Trust, but is maintained and funded by Cheshire East Council.

The Norfolk project, which opened in 2007, was devised by two local businessmen Tom Blofeld and Simon Egan and includes treehouses, zip wires, jungle bridges, storytelling, boat trips and marsh walks.

"We have seen numbers increase year on year to 169,000 and we wanted to expand," said Simon Egan, of Bure Valley Adventures.

The firm said it would submit a planning application following the two week consultation period.
