Dale Cregan co-accused admits murdering David Short

A co-accused of Dale Cregan has admitted the murder of a man in a gun and grenade attack in Manchester.

Anthony Wilkinson, 38, had denied murdering David Short, 46, at his Clayton home last August, but changed his plea at Preston Crown Court.

Wilkinson also admitted possessing a firearm. He denies attempting to murder Sharon Hark and causing an explosion with a hand grenade.

Three other men, including Dale Cregan, deny murdering Mr Short.

Cregan also denies murdering Mr Short's son Mark, 23, in a pub shooting last May in Droylsden.

He has admitted murdering PCs Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes last September. He was the the only person charged with these offences.

Francis Dixon, 37, from Stalybridge, and Jermaine Ward, 24, also deny murdering David Short, the attempted murder of Sharon Hark and causing an explosion with a hand grenade.

Leon Atkinson, 35, from Ashton-Under-Lyne, Luke Livesey, 27, from Hattersley, Damian Gorman, 38, from Glossop, Ryan Hadfield, 28, from Droylsden, and Matthew James, 33, from Clayton, also deny murdering Mark Short and the attempted murders of three others in the pub at the time.
