Ranya Alayed's disappearance is out of character say police

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the disappearance of a mother-of-three from Manchester.

Rania Alayed, 25, was reported missing from the Cheetham Hill area on Tuesday but has not been seen since early June.

Two other people have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, Greater Manchester Police said.

Police are treating it as a missing person inquiry but said they could not rule out the possibility she has been harmed.

Supt Vanessa Jardine, of North Manchester Division, said: "A young mother has gone missing in sudden circumstances and our over-riding concern is that she is reunited with her children.

"At this stage however we cannot rule out the possibility that Rania has come to some harm and we won't know for sure what's happened to her until we find her."

Ms Alayed moved to Manchester in January from the north-east of England.

Police said it was extremely out-of-character for her to disappear in this way.

Officers from North Manchester police are carrying out a number of inquiries and have searched her home.
