More than 3,000 people have taken part in an open water swim in Salford.

Organisers of the Great Manchester Swim said the event attracted a record number of entries this year.

The one mile (1.6km) "dock to dock" course started close to the Lowry and took in Dock 9, before finishing outside the Helly Hansen Watersports Centre.

Kayakers and safety boats monitored the route to ensure the safety of swimmers, organisers said.
