A motorway was briefly closed after a swan managed to get on the M60 in Greater Manchester.

North West Motorway Police (NWMP) said they had to set up roadblocks on both sides as an officer removed the swan near junction 23 at Ashton-under-Lyne.

They said the bird was not injured and an RSPCA worker attended the incident, which led to congestion.

After the M60 was reopened, NWMP tweeted, external: "Not sure who'll be getting the bill for this!"
