HMP Manchester prisoner dies after 'cardiac arrest'

A man being held at HMP Manchester has died after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest.

The Prison Service said John Ahmed, 42, who was on remand and awaiting trial, was found to be suffering from respiratory problems at the prison on Wednesday morning.

He was taken to North Manchester General Hospital, where he died.

Police have launched an investigation into the exact circumstances of his death.
