Leigh Centurions' Sam Barlow admits assaulting anti-doping official

A rugby league player has pleaded guilty to assaulting an official from the UK Anti-Doping Agency (Ukad).

Sam Barlow, 28, who plays for Leigh Centurions, was visited at his home in Halifax, West Yorkshire in July 2015.

The Scotland international was told he would not now stand trial on charges of perverting the course of justice and false imprisonment.

He will be sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on 27 June after a drugs panel hearing on 6 June.

Barlow joined Leigh for the start of the 2014 season, following previous club appearances for Sheffield, Halifax and Featherstone.

He played in the 40-4 quarter-final defeat to New Zealand in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
