Jacob Lee admitted kidnapping and strangling a 15-year-old girl

A "dangerous" man who snatched a 15-year-old girl from the street and assaulted her has been jailed.

Jacob Lee, 31, had approached the girl from behind as she walked in Salford before he dragged her away and tried to strangle her before she fought him off.

Lee, of Salford, admitted kidnap and strangulation and was sentenced to 11 years at Manchester Crown Court.

The judge described Lee as a "dangerous offender" who was "a great risk to women", police said.

The court heard how on the evening of Tuesday 29 November 2022, the 15-year-old had been walking along Princes Avenue in Salford when she was attacked from behind by Lee.

'Protecting others'

The girl had managed to fight off him off and escape before reporting the incident to police.

Forensic evidence recovered from the scene led to Lee being identified, arrested and charged.

Det Con Stuart Bentley of GMP Salford Division said the young victim had shown "strength and bravery" in reporting the incident.

He said the force's "hard work and dedication" had secured a conviction and "put a dangerous offender behind bars, ensuring justice for the victim and protecting other women and girls".

Lee was sentenced to seven years in prison with an extended licence of four years for kidnap and common assault, and three years in prison for intentional strangulation, to run concurrently.
