A woman who admitted stabbing her boyfriend to death has been jailed.
Katie Yeomans, 28, was charged with murdering Rees Howarth but on the first day of her trial she admitted manslaughter on the grounds of loss of control.
Police were called to a domestic disturbance at Yeomans' home in Hyde, Greater Manchester, on 23 April and found Mr Howarth had been attacked.
Yeomans was sentenced to five years and three months at Manchester Crown Court.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the couple had been out with friends in Oldham town centre on the Saturday night and returned to the house where they carried on drinking.
At about 14:30 BST on the Sunday, Yeomans attempted to contact the emergency services for one second before ending the call.
She then called a family member who arrived at her home and saw Mr Howarth in the hallway.
GMP said she then contacted another family member who rang the emergency services.
Mr Howarth was found with a single stab wound to his upper chest.
Yeomans was arrested along with a 19-year-old woman, who was released without charge.
She admitted manslaughter on the grounds of loss of control on 1 November.
Mr Howarth's family said he was an "active and outgoing man, who was funny and loving".
They added: "He had a heart of gold and was caring and kind-hearted. He was a larger-than-life character who will be sadly missed by all who loved him".
