A 38-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a father who died following a street attack.

Vincent McDonagh, 45, suffered a serious head injury just before midnight last Thursday in Abbey Hills Road, Oldham.

Mr McDonagh's fiancée Demi said he was a "devoted family man".

Lee Francis Burns, of Worsley Street, Oldham, has been charged with his murder and will appear at Tameside Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said Mr McDonagh was found unconscious in the street just before midnight and died a short time later.

In a tribute, Mr McDonagh's fiancée Demi said: "He was kind and helpful to everyone and nothing was ever too much to ask.

"He loved his little boy to pieces, he doted on him and would always make sure he had everything."
