A 19-year-old man has died after a car hit motorway barriers and overturned.
Greater Manchester Police said he was a passenger in a grey Vauxhall Astra travelling westbound on the M62 near junction 21 for Milnrow, near Rochdale, at about 22:30 GMT on Thursday.
The 19-year-old driver, who suffered minor injuries, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Another passenger was unhurt.
The M62 remains closed in both directions following the crash.
Police said initial inquiries indicated the driver had lost control of his car before hitting the central barriers.
His vehicle crossed on to the eastbound carriageway and overturned.
Officers have appealed for anyone with information and dashcam footage to contact them.
