Investigation after two prisoners die at women's jail

HMP Styal has about 480 prisoners

An investigation has been launched after the deaths of two women within a week at HMP Styal in Cheshire.

A prison service spokesman said prisoners Laura Parry, 59, and Sarah Jackson, 46, died on 15 and 21 December respectively.

"Our thoughts are with their families and, as with all deaths in custody, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will investigate."

Their deaths are not believed to be connected.
