A trail of destruction has been left after a small "tornado" tore through parts of Greater Manchester during Storm Gerrit.

Roofs were torn off houses, trees blew down and walls collapsed during heavy rain and strong winds.

Police declared a major incident in Tameside "due to the severity of the damage caused and potential risk to public safety".
