The rail operator has warned of disruption due to the blaze

Rail services have been cancelled between between Wigan Wallgate and Headbolt Lane after a fire broke out on a train.

Northern confirmed the line was closed earlier due to the blaze.

A bus replacement service was in place earlier, external and ticket restrictions were lifted due to the disruption.

Northern ticket holders can also use their tickets to travel on alternative Northern services between Wigan Wallgate and Blackburn.
